YOUR CHOICE (POEM)

We often love to have the best of both worlds. But when we have to choose between both the extremes, it’s human tendency to choose only the best one. Our journey is simple but often gets complicated by our choices and preferences. Let us think about it in this poem…

                       YOUR CHOICE

The rising sun or the sunset,
The soothing breeze or the warm sweat,
The morning walk or the comfy bed,
Think about the choices before you regret.

It’s not that easy to choose,
As all the options are rosy and it soothes,
Life is a gamble and no one wants to lose,
All want to be a winner and to be in news.

But if the options sound straight,
Happiness or sorrow, life or death,
Win or lose, smile or cry, love or hate,
You won’t ask for both, but only the best.

Then let the choices be bold and extreme,
Let there be no 50/50 option or 1+1 scheme,
Let best be the choice and the only theme,
Let us cherish life as ultimate and supreme.

But do we really have to choose the best?
Can’t we choose which is just heartily blessed,
Let it not be like an award in the contest,
Maybe least wanted, but deeply self expressed.

Very true and very well written post.
But it is not so easy to decide ….we are taking any decision it seems correct that time.
By the way very well topic also.

Yes Rohit, to choose or to take the right decision, sometimes really becomes challenging, but I think our choice should be customised according to our preferences. Thank you so much for liking and sharing your views.

Choices or preferences are mostly driven by circumstances and they have subtle difference with regards to priority. At times choice or preference takes a back seat due to priority. Now If we still need to plunge further then there can be a possibility of serial priority resulting into dumping of the choice or preferences deliberately or under duress even. This alternative way out sometimes may mislead the perception of those who are associated physically close or even those distant ones who are close mentally. Toll takes on while balancing…….I think the scale of justice while maintaining its equilibrium beacons us to derive a lesson….THE MIDDLE PATH…..for any EXTREMES. ….THE SORROWS AND HAPPINESS…or life and death. …riches or poverty…..

But then Lord Buddha did preach us with equanimity or MIDDLE PATH….If you juxtapose life and death with happiness and sorrow….then it would be easier to conquer death over life….If u still don’t believe then ask one who is dying…..However you won’t find a better clarity if you would offer death to a living man……Here he needs to be introspected from dying one’s perception. ……albeit it may be easy to maneuver a lamenting man to have happiness at some point of time. ……till then he could control and be patient. ….but life and death are 2 BIPOLAR TRUTHS….

Therefore EXTREMES are various variables yet we can afford to conclude that MIDDLE PATH IS BEST…..its like a river bank…….both ends are necessary yet both don’t meet each other …..but they define a flowing river….. a hindi movie song may depict the genesis of this hypothesis

However the poem glides us to various dimensions and then there is turbulence during the flight within second last stanza……but the way it has hovered up with same dexterity we ground safely…….mesmerised with the attendant’s demonstration that exit gates are available at front as well as at rear……but God forbid did any one on board thought ever which gate was best if nearest gate couldn’t be opened during emergency. ….life is like that……….

This poem bears your signature as with extremes identifying your blog…MELLOW STORM…….both words signify EXTREMES…..but when you put them together a subtle tone sets up. …..that’s STRIKING OF BALANCE. ……..as no one would like to be mellowed or no one would like to be a storm…..all need a respite ……..LET US CHERISH LIFE AS ULTIMATE AND SUPREME ……..that’s the latent message while making a choice…I decipher a choice which gives lingering tastes to us despite non-concurrent preferences ……is the best precept delivered.

Lastly there is the finest quintessential help to this reader …..MAY BE LEAST WANTED BUT DEEPLY SELF EXPRESSED…is the punch knocking me down….on which I would retreat that rarely things qualified on the touchstone of merits are cherished as treasure for…..since life is simple

And simplicity means balance between extremes and this is really blessed situation. …..and I have been blessed enough to maintain the balance……I may sway between the scales but would not let any one down……..God did put one on selection one on choice…….knowing that I am no more a novice. Living beings may look forward for awards but there’s a divine reward…. BUT I SINCERELY HAVE LOVED THE WAY IT HAS BEEN EXPRESSED. ……..

    So no more dangling…….its a balance……….

I have yet another facet over the exercising of choice……especially if it’s that over the emotional conflict between chooser and one not chosen……..the poem while on board serves with options which are material or terminal. ……thus there is something which requires brain racking. …why author intends to write so……is there still something patent which we readers construe to be latent……..then concluding poem is quite different. …

Choosing the best amongst material things or non-living objects of desire are often governed by yardstick qualifying quality, price, looks, features, affordability. .., …….and if you reject by way preferring second rated object, chooser may still have the pride of owning……the selection here is however material and thus the first rated object won’t have that emotional turbulence of rejection ……

But with choices having emotional capacities. ……..would then rip apart chooser and non-chosen one simultaneously ….but emotional attribute is that of living ones…..so its concluded that you have written poem on relationship. ……..thus this poem is with regards to patent message which I earlier took latent……..and THEREFORE YOU ARE SORCERESS OF POETRY WHO CAN DELIVER US BRAIN FOOD THROUGH YOUR UNCANNY WAYS…..THUS IF WE REALLY WANT TO CHERISH OUR LIVES AT ITS SUPREME AND ULTIMATE LEVELS THEN…….THE MUNTRA IS…CHOSE SO, SO THAT……MAY BE IT COULD BE LEAST WANTED BUT DEEPLY SELF EXPRESSED………here I gather what is least wanted……but deeply self expressed ……..is what intrigues most of the readers……

Yes here you successfully impart the precept while choosing an option……..and the picture somehow assures that the split ends are confluencing after some woody trail……….yes we walk there to meet at some point of time. .. its choice with inherent deviation for some time which is bound to meet time and again……that is commutation that is journey that is life……Yet it is deemed to be simple…..since then only we reap the blessings

    ……keep writing….here you chose a different theme. ………

I am really inspired by your poem. Its true it is very difficult to choose the right path. Sometimes we need to take tough decisions and chose the difficult path. In today’s era, we donot get anything for free. We need to pay for everything, may be your hardwork or dedication or ur time

“And both equally lay that morning in leaves no step had trodden black…”
Both are good really, but the answer comes at the end: “I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”
        That IS the answer.
