BARGAD AUR AMALTAS (POEM)

Travelling by road from Nagpur to 300km interior in the jungle, heading towards one of the project sites of my husband, seeing the trees, plants, beautiful patches of greenery, …gave birth to the poem. The Banyan tree was looking like the king of jungle and this beautiful yellow flowering tree ‘Golden Shower’ was simply gorgeous.

Does every love story has a happy ending, or someone sacrifices, or they claim to have a perfect understanding, or the external pressure of family and peers seperate them, or it’s euphoria…the endless ‘or’ becomes cacophony…well, it’s like asking…does an insomniac often need a soporific??

Hey, let my Banyan tree and Golden Shower tree lead rest of the conversation…

  1. Bargad aur Amaltas kavita man ko chune wali aur marmik karne wali kavita h.

  3. BARGAD AUR AMALTAS

TREES ARE POEMS THAT EARTH WRITES UPON THE SKY. WE FELL THEM DOWN AND TURN THEM INTO PAPER, THAT WE MAY RECORD OUR EMPTINESS…. “Kahlil Gibran” – the author has thus transgressed by felling two trees…..but to save herself she has armored astutely herself by throwing volley of queries, turning readers agape and bewildered with regards to sacrifices, misgivings, biased commitments for family, nobles indulging for separation, speculated ecstasy or eventual discords in a relationship……all pivots to sole query-“DO ALL LOVE STORIES SUCCEED HAPPILY?” and poem hinges on two beautifully divine trees…..

    Following lines are bit beyond my comprehension and they crypt substance, which has the essence for perceiving Amaltas culpability for misfortune… दोनों की जड़ता, मन के अपनापन में कभी बांधा ना बना, प्राण-शक्ति की वो परिभाषा, बेगाना कोई कैसे समझेगा …actually Amaltas isn’t procrastinating… here latently volumes have been scrambled…and it depicts the vulnerability of Banyan….
I think we should venerate BLOGGER, her intent & poem for being unique to characterize two trees into mooning twosome…..like divine: Radha-Krishna or mortals: Layla-Majnun, Shirin-Farhad, Baiju-Bawara, Nul-Damyanti, Savitri-Satyavahan, Shakuntala-Dushyant, Romeo-Juliet, Salim-Anarkali, Sohni-Mahiwal, Heer-Ranjha, Eloise-Abelard, Napoleon-Josephine, Orpheus-Eurydice, Shahjahan-Mumtaz, Paris-Helen, Tristan-Iseult, Antony-Cleopatra,…..here we are served with the rhapsody of TREES: Banyan-Amaltas……salutes to your effervescent fancy…..however my comments would hover around Hindu mythology, literature & Biology. Romance between Shakuntla & Dushyant blossomed under Amaltas. Salim & Anarkali have been picturised under the Amaltas romancing… HYPERLINK “https://youtu.be/Aob1I_Ifee0” https://youtu.be/Aob1I_Ifee0 THUS YOU COULD HAVE MADE A HAPPY ENDING INSTEAD OF QUESTIONING READERS……

……Therefore Author has blundered significantly by decking the AMALTAS…. हवा के झोंके से गिर पड़ी मीठी की वो ढुंढ सी काया, ओढे, स्वाभिमान का खिताब,………the aftermath is mournful devastation causing Banyan to collapse through depiction appended….however there is no direct relevance penned to decipher through poetic lines or description about the catastrophe….but it has been illustrated & numinously scrambled for the readers to construct….

It seems author has preponderance of her own gen/illusions and has erred over the innate traits of Banyan & Amaltas……to best of my knowledge these are DIVIVE TREES/USEFUL TREES……but you get exonerated SINCE you have ALSO questioned to exercise discretion for being soporific or insomniac….because on the hind side poem is ruminating togetherness…..it’s like a union while having eternal sleep clasped under the canopy of Banyan or waking up from dusk till dawn besides with clinging adventitious roots/trunk of Banyan…. …… HYPERLINK “https://youtu.be/0ontrxrUaSw” https://youtu.be/0ontrxrUaSw ,………. O! WHAT A VIVIDLY DIVINE IMAGINATION, CAPTIVATING….CERTAINLY & THE STATISTICS PROVES- NUMBER OF LIKINGS FOR YOUR BLOGS…36 within 2 days. yet the description has subtlety, one needs to ponder on author’s intent…….Describing the prelude you precipitously pour the play to play, through the characters of the plot, and then the poem verves……DISAPPOINTINGLY despondency marks after reading the poem …………….उस दिन बसन्त का लहरा रहा था परचम, लेकिन मीठी ने पहना पतझड़ का लिबास,परिवार के प्यार के आगे, मन का प्यार हारा, शायद सही था हिसाब,…….., but there is a lot significantly veiled……a beautiful divine relationship HYPERLINK “https://youtu.be/VJlKCWqHFCo” https://youtu.be/VJlKCWqHFCo . THUS I CAN RATE THIS AS YOUR MASTERPIECE.

……from poetic inference it’s amazing how AMALTAS could perambulate ceremonially tying 7 threads while chanting……OM NAMO BHAGWATE RUDRAYAH, but I perceive it was BANYAN who had clutched (not strangled as a host tree) her seven times (saptpadee-Hindu ceremony) with its adventitious roots…..& thereby marked mutual alliance…… HYPERLINK “https://youtu.be/TFr6G5zveS8” https://youtu.be/TFr6G5zveS8 ..… It would amuse readers that women would perambulate to seek boon under BANYAN and in the poem BANYAN which itself is canopy above boon-giver gives boon-seeker-AMALTAS what is desired……I mean its loftiness of sanctifications. BUT LATER POETESS HAS SCULPTURED AMALTAS TO SUCCUMB TO HER MISGIVINGS & AUTHOR HAS ERRED BY PERCIEVING THAT BANYAN WOULD BE WITH HIS FAMILY…….. अंतत: बरगद सोचा, परिवार ही है उसकी जिन्दगी, उसका धन……, and she leaves her soul/life to bleed for heartrending death…. मीठी हंसकर बोली जाओ, लेकिन दिल दर्द से कर रहा था हाहाकार,अपने जड़ो को अलग कर, छोड़ गया वो, रिसता रहा घाव की धार ….Amaltas is useful herb for arresting bleeding & to contrary in poem it bleeds to death….Blogger has erred again……Author has erred for Banyan too, since it is deemed eremite hermit who can’t raise a family or support a home and is not associated with material aspiration like Banana & Coconut & thus is referred to be immortal like soul: Akshaya, that which survives end of the world-Pralaya. Marriage and childbirth are rites of passage; they represent major transferals in life & are all about instability and flux; Banyan tree is thus very contrary which is unchanging and perpetual. The Banyan tree does not let a blade of grass grow under it & is perceived not to allow for any rebirth and renewal. While Banyan offers shade from the sun, it fails to offer food. That is why it is not part of fertility ceremonies like marriage and childbirth, (BUT significantly for him whole world is family…vasudev kutumbakam) who is into common welfare…..selfless services….SOMETIMES THUS IT HAS TO COLLAPSE AND BREAK UNDER ITS OWN COMMITMENTS….& THIS IS INDICATED BY THESE STROKES ….IN WHICH AMALTAS IS REMORSEFUL ….लेकिन वो रहती सिर्फ बरगद के ख्यालों को समेटे, उसके दुख मे रोती, उसके सुख मे हंसती, वो बहके बहके ……Since I still reside in the same woods (central India) where I had my childhood & attained my middle age, thus being reminiscent about the prints of the bio-diversity existing from patch to patch it is quite easy to recall……प्राण-शक्ति की वो परिभाषा…..yeah it’s a great feeling to breathe in here; the pristine & serene nature can be any ones delight…its device injects life……all is needed to land up here in two & half hours from anywhere towards this destination……Banyan tree says to Amaltas, yes come please…run amok…..nature has its own splendor to enrapture and bewitch anyone……

The timing (26 May 2017) of BLOGGING is quite coinciding with Hindu Lunar Almanac-“Jeth Maah” (between May & June of Gregorian & Julian calendars). Coincidences are numerable- Lord Shani was born during New Moon of Jeth Month. Coincidently it is then when AMALTAS-Golden Shower is also in its full bloom and Hindu women would perambulate the BANYAN tree during Full Moon of Jeth Maah, fast and pray for longevity, wellbeing & association with their cohorts/soul mate/hubbies following the tradition and tie 7 strings to the trunk…..CUSTOM THOUGH NOT VEDIC PRACTICE BUT DATES POST-POURANIC ERA……& cause of etymological coining of Vat Purnima & Vat Savitri in Hindi dialect & refers to an epic saga of Savitri having chased YAMA (Lord of Death) to bring her Satyavahan back to life under Banyan tree HYPERLINK “https://youtu.be/EnP7eT5bGUg” https://youtu.be/EnP7eT5bGUg ….… Married woman thus marks her love for her husband by tying a ceremonial thread around Banyan Tree. & therefore perambulation even has been secretly cryptic through these verses, I would like rest of the readers to decrypt it…..BUT I VISUALIZE YOUR UNCANNY WAY TO WRITE AND YET QUESTION US …… your chosen characters-Amaltas & Banyan have strange ethereal connection….& THEY ARE HOST TO DIVINE DEITIES……..I DON’T KNOW IF THAT HAS HAPPENED BY COINCIDENCE…OR A FLUKE HIT YOU TO PEN SUCH BEAUTIFUL VERSE…Astrologically-this Full Moon of Jeth Month is the weakest amongst 12 full moons of the year…..and thus its pertinent to note that to fortify out Chitta/Munn (Brain) we should propitiate Full-Moon in Jeth Month to have better MANOGATTI.

INNATE TRAITS OF BANYAN & AMALTAS…Banyan is said to be never dying & never renewing tree. Some trees do grow strangling over a host tree and thus a hollow core is left inside the columnar trunk since the host tree dies within. But certainly host tree is not Amaltas because Banyan eventually kills the host tree leaving a hollow portion for other animal’s shelter…scientifically author has erred for the death of Amaltas. Banyan vines do grow to develop intricate network……बरगद के उस विशाल पेड़ के छत्रछावं पर था जिसका अधिकार,थे वो कुछ छोटे पेड़, जिसे बरगद कहता था अपना परिवार……,Banyan is deemed to be caring and liberal monarch that promotes all, scripture represent it as divine creator and symbolizes longevity. Mythological belief is that it provides gratification of desires and provides material gain. Agni Purana vouches its symbolic means for fertility. Tree and its leaves are never cut, only during famine is it used for sustenance. It is an abode of Lord Krishna & Lord Vishnu did take birth beneath it & is related with trunk as protector, He was cited by Sage Markandaey during end of world as a baby floating over sea on Banyan Leaf. Lord Shiva-destroyer resorts doing meditation & is symbolized by its canopy. Lord Bramha-creator is said to be roots of Banyan. It is also related with God of death YAMA & thus it is planted besides crematorium & is deliberated as tree of mystics and sanctified folks as well as Tree of Knowledge. Banyan leaves are also helpful to arrest bleeding (common trait with Amaltas) or secretion. The fruit is nutritious & has soothing effect on the skin and mucous membranes, alleviates swelling and pain, and serves as a mild purgative. The leaf buds are beneficial for chronic diarrhea and dysentery. Latex cures bleeding piles, rheumatism, pain and lumbago. Roots are useful for female sterility & helpful in leucorrhoea. Aerial root is beneficial for teeth and gum disorders. A hot poultice of the leaves is deployed for abscesses to promote suppuration and to expedite their breaking. The milky juice is useful in destroying warts; its latex is commonly used locally for sores, ulcers and bruises.

AMALTAS: Aragwadh, rajvriksh, shyampak, chaturungal, aavret, vyadighat, kritmaal, karnikaar, dhirgfal, swaranang and swaranfal are the various synonyms of amaltas. The properties of amlastas are heavy, sweet, cool and purgative. It is used in fever (jwara), heart disorders (hridroga), bleeding disorders (raktapitta), bloating (udavart) and abdominal colic pain (shoola). Fruits of amlatas are soft, pugative, appetizer in nature and used to pacify kapha and pitta dosha & is also used in leprosy (kusth roga). Best use is as purgative and anti-pyretic…..BUT beauty of Amaltas is unparalleled… दूर खड़ी अमलताश, पीले फुलों के आभुषण पहने, सब तारीफों के पुल बांधते, उसकी मीठी खुशबु से सारा जंगल महके, people hang pendulous blooms as good omen & also offer it at temples.. also known as “Aragvadha” in sanskrit which means to kill diseases….one of the most popular herbal plants known for its medicinal worth….effective detoxifying properties for the body, leaves, bark, pulp & seeds contains various phytochemicals. It regulates 3 body energies & regulates KAPHA & PITTA DOSHAS. The tree gives respite to our eyes during parched summers & is a good resort for windbreak. Sometimes it copiously over-blooms in late springs & then no leaves are visible. Timber quality is fit for making bows & thus it is speculated that KamDev too had bow made from Amaltas.

… Life span of both trees are different… people avoid metal on Banyan but would chop Amaltas & thus its quite obvious that advertence to Banyan’s proposal could make Amaltas stigmatically anxious….. ENDING IS not disparaging if the rider etched at last is tacit……. ।……………………..poem is musing devotedness. AND ECHOES LIKE THIS…… HYPERLINK “https://youtu.be/83ccenWdS7Y” https://youtu.be/83ccenWdS7Y ………because both trees are equally virtuous.

    BANYAN STOOD FOR DAYS TOGETHER
    GOLDEN DROPS WERE TWIRLING DANGLERS
    CLASPING PROPS MADE THEM HAPPIER
IT CHANGED THEM TO MOON FOREVER

    BANYAN STOOD FOR DAYS TOGETHER
SYMPHONY MEANT TO LIVE IN FURTHER
    EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT AND CLEAR
YET SOMETHING ERRED BEING SO NEAR

    BANYAN STOOD FOR DAYS TOGETHER
CANOPY ABOVE PROPS NOW WERE DRIER
    SWOONED GOLDEN SHOWER DIDN’T FLOWER
AND ONE DAY IT TURNED WORST THAN EVER

    BANYAN DAZED FOR DAYS TOGETHER
RECALLING ARDOR WITH HIS GOLDEN SHOWER
IN HER ABSENCE WASN’T SURE WHAT TO GATHER
BUT IT TOO WILTED TO BE EVEN MORE CLOSER
